Akantio POS

Description

Akantio POS is a point-of-sale system for physical stores that already sell on WooCommerce.

Install the plugin, connect your store, and start ringing up in-person sales — using the exact same products, prices, and stock levels you already manage in WooCommerce. No second product catalog. No separate inventory to keep in sync by hand.

The problem

Running a physical counter alongside a WooCommerce store usually means keeping two things in sync manually: what’s in stock online, and what’s actually left on the shelf. Every workaround — spreadsheets, a second system, end-of-day reconciliation — is one more place for numbers to drift apart.

The solution

Akantio POS is a dedicated checkout app, built for the counter, that connects directly to your WooCommerce store. Your products, prices, and stock stay exactly where you already manage them — WooCommerce — and Akantio POS reads and writes to that single source of truth.

One catalog. One inventory. Every sale in one place.

  • One catalog. Whatever you sell online is exactly what you sell at the counter — nothing to duplicate or maintain twice.
  • One inventory. A sale at the register updates the same stock your online store checks. No overselling because the shelf ran out first.
  • One order history, if you want it. Turn on Order Sync and every POS sale becomes a real WooCommerce order — same reporting, same order history, same customer records you already rely on.
  • Still your WooCommerce store. Akantio POS adds a physical checkout without asking you to move off WooCommerce or change how your online store runs.

How it works

Install Open Connect Sell

  1. Install and activate Akantio POS from WordPress, on your WooCommerce store.
  2. Click “Open Akantio POS.” This opens Akantio in your browser.
  3. Connect. Akantio authenticates and links to your WooCommerce store as part of opening it — there’s no separate signup form to fill out first.
  4. Start selling. Your WooCommerce products and stock are already there, ready to ring up.

Choose how Akantio works with WooCommerce

Pick one sync mode from within Akantio POS:

Order Sync — every completed POS sale is created in WooCommerce as a real order, exactly as rung up, with stock reduced automatically. Use this if you want your in-person sales in your regular WooCommerce order history and reporting.

Stock-only Sync — POS sales adjust WooCommerce stock levels directly, without creating an order. Use this if you just need stock to stay accurate and don’t need each counter sale to appear as a WooCommerce order.

Built for the counter

Akantio POS itself — the checkout app your staff actually uses — is a fast, touch-friendly register screen, not a repurposed admin page. Take payment however the customer pays:

  • Cash, with automatic change calculation
  • Card, in person, via built-in Stripe Terminal or Revolut Terminal integration (Pro)
  • Ad-hoc card entry (Free)

A clean, branded receipt is handed over without leaving the register.

Compatibility

  • WordPress 6.0 or later
  • WooCommerce (required — Akantio POS connects to it directly)
  • PHP 7.4 or later
  • Works with both High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS) and legacy post-based order storage

Privacy & security

In plain terms: this plugin does not send your store data to Akantio. Akantio POS connects to your store using WooCommerce’s own REST API authentication — the same mechanism any WooCommerce REST API client uses — and this plugin never stores or manages that credential itself.

For anyone who wants the technical detail: this plugin makes no outbound requests to Akantio or any other third party. All communication is inbound — your connected Akantio POS instance calls this site’s REST API to push orders or stock updates. The one exception is the “Open Akantio POS” link, which opens Akantio in your browser only when you click it, the same as clicking a bookmark.

FAQ

Is Akantio POS free?

Yes, there’s a free plan. Free covers 1 device, 1 user, up to 100 products, and up to 50 orders/month, with cash or ad-hoc card payments. Pro adds unlimited products and orders, card payment integration via Stripe Terminal and Revolut Terminal, and accounting sync with Moneybird. See akantio.com for current pricing.

Does it work with my existing WooCommerce store?

Yes. Akantio POS connects to the WooCommerce store you already have — it doesn’t require a new store setup or a separate product catalog.

Do I need to create a separate account?

No separate signup form. Connecting from Akantio POS authenticates and links your store as one step — you don’t register an account and then connect it afterward.

Do I need to duplicate my products?

No. Akantio POS uses your existing WooCommerce products directly.

Does Akantio sync inventory with WooCommerce?

Yes. Stock changes from POS sales apply to WooCommerce, either through Order Sync (which also creates a WooCommerce order) or Stock-only Sync (stock only, no order created). You choose the mode in Akantio POS.

Can POS sales become WooCommerce orders?

Yes, when Order Sync is enabled. Each completed sale is created as a real WooCommerce order, exactly as rung up, with stock reduced automatically.

Does this recalculate my order totals or taxes?

No. Orders and stock changes are applied exactly as Akantio POS computed them at the register — this plugin never recalculates totals or taxes after the fact.

Does it support High-Performance Order Storage (HPOS)?

Yes, as well as legacy post-based order storage.

Does Akantio POS run on my WordPress server?

No. This plugin runs on your WordPress site, but Akantio POS itself — the checkout app, your account, and your license — runs on Akantio’s own servers, not on your WordPress hosting. This plugin is the bridge between the two.

Where do I manage the connection or see sync activity?

WooCommerce Akantio POS in wp-admin shows recent order and stock sync activity, with links to the affected orders and products, plus a link to open Akantio POS.
