Administrators can assign specific categories to authors and set which categories are checked by default in the post editor. Authors no longer have to worry about managing categories or figuring out which ones to select. **What the author sees:** * Only sees categories assigned by the administrator * Sees pre-checked categories as configured by admin * Can change checked categories within allowed options * Cannot see or access categories not assigned to them **Key Features:** * **Author Restrictions**: Restrict authors to specific categories only * **Default Categories**: Set one or multiple default categories (or none) that auto-check when authors create posts * **Hierarchical Display**: Categories show in parent-child tree structure * **Real-time Preview**: See exactly what the author will see in their editor * **Quick Actions**: One-click select/deselect all or parent-only categories * **Admin Protection**: Administrators are never restricted * **Multilingual**: Full French/English translation support * **WordPress-like Interface**: Seamless integration with WordPress admin **How it works:** 1. Administrator goes to Users All Users 2. Edits an author profile (cannot restrict own account) 3. Finds “Author Categories Management” section 4. Selects allowed categories for this author 5. Clicks “Validate your choice” to update the preview 6. Checks default categories in the preview (optional) 7. Upload the `author-category-rev` folder to the `/wp-content/plugins/` directory 2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress 3. Go to Users All Users to configure author categories ## FAQ ### Can administrators be restricted? No, administrators can always use all categories. These restrictions only apply to authors and editors. ### Can I restrict my own administrator account? No, for security reasons you cannot restrict your own account. You can only configure restrictions for other users. ### What happens if no categories are selected for an author? The author will see all available categories (no restrictions applied). ### Can I set multiple default categories? Yes! You can check one or multiple categories as default. All checked categories will be pre-selected when the author creates a new post. ### Can authors change the default categories? Yes, authors can uncheck or check different categories within their allowed list when writing posts. ### What if an author needs access to new categories? Administrators can edit the author’s profile at any time to add or remove categories from their allowed list. ### Is this plugin compatible with multilingual sites? Yes, the plugin includes French and English translations and is ready for translation to other languages. ### Does it work with custom post types? Currently, the plugin works only with standard WordPress posts.
