### 󠀁[I accept payment via pay by Bank](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/i-accept-payment-via-pay-by-bank/)󠁿

 [holdenford31](https://profiles.wordpress.org/holdenford31/) August 20, 2026

I’ve been using Zionpe for with my WooCommerce store, integrating their WordPress
plugin to accept Pay by Bank payments from UK customers. The integration was straightforward,
and the payment process has been running very smoothly.Over the past year, I’ve
had a consistently positive experience with the service. It’s reliable, easy to
manage, and works well for my online store. Overall, I’m very satisfied with Zionpe
and would definitely recommend it to other online businesses.

## Changelog

#### 1.24.1

 * Sandbox is now labelled on the WooCommerce payment providers list and on the
ZionPe gateway settings screen, so a store left in sandbox cannot look like a
   live one.

#### 1.24.0

 * NEW: Sandbox. A sandbox Site Key puts the whole checkout in sandbox, with a badge
on the payment form. No real card is charged and sandbox orders never reach your
   revenue figures.

#### 1.23.2

 * FIXED: Backing out of a payment now cancels it properly. Stripe sends bank transfer
instructions the moment the payment starts, so a customer who then chose another
method had been asked to send money for an order that was never placed. The request
is cancelled, and the dialog tells them to ignore that email.

#### 1.23.1

 * FIXED (important): Cancelling a Pay by Bank payment still placed the order. Closing
the bank window leaves the payment unfinished, and we were reading that as success.
An order is now only created when the payment actually succeeded or is genuinely
   settling.

#### 1.23.0

 * FIXED: Choosing Pay by Bank could pop up the bank transfer question. That question
now only appears for an actual bank transfer.
 * IMPROVED: The ZionPe settings pages use the full width of your screen and adapt
   properly on smaller ones.
 * IMPROVED: The confirmation dialog is roomier and its buttons no longer wrap onto
   two lines.
 * IMPROVED: Wording tidied across the plugin to match the ZionPe writing style.

#### 1.22.0

 * NEW: Finance tab — twelve months of ZionPe volume as a chart, plus refunds, disputes
and success rate, with your store name, description and location.
 * NEW: Express Checkout switches (product / cart / checkout pages, button colour,
height and width) are now on the ZionPe page too, not only in WooCommerce settings.
 * FIXED: Payment methods could not be dragged into order on the ZionPe page.
 * FIXED: Orders created by express checkout showed “Origin: Unknown” in WooCommerce.
They now carry the same attribution data a normal checkout order does.

#### 1.21.0

 * IMPROVED: The bank transfer confirmation now uses a proper ZionPe dialog instead
of the browser’s grey “this site says” pop-up — the least reassuring thing to
show someone at the moment they are paying.
 * IMPROVED: Cancelling a payment always reads the same: “No problem — your order
has not been placed. Choose another payment method.” — whether it was a bank
transfer, Pay by Bank or a wallet, and whatever wording the provider used.

#### 1.20.3

 * NEW: ZionPe now emails you the moment a bank transfer is started — amount, order
and the payment reference — so an on-hold order is never a mystery. You still
get the usual “payment received” email when the money lands.

#### 1.20.2

 * FIXED: Closing the bank transfer details window still placed the order, so a
customer who cancelled was told “Order received”. The checkout now asks “Have
you made the bank transfer?” — confirm and the order is placed on hold; cancel
and no order is created at all, so they can pick another payment method.
 * NEW: The bank details now stay with the order — shown again on the order-received
page and in the customer’s email, with the reference. Closing Stripe’s window
   no longer loses them.
 * IMPROVED: The order-received page for an unpaid bank transfer says the payment
is still awaited instead of simply thanking the customer.

#### 1.20.1

 * FIXED: Bank Transfer said “Not available” even after you switched Bank Transfers
on in Stripe. Stripe names this capability per country (gb_bank_transfer_payments,
us_bank_transfer_payments, sepa_bank_transfer_payments…) and we were looking
for a generic name that does not exist.

#### 1.20.0

 * NEW: Bank Transfer. Customers can push money from their own bank; the order is
held on-hold with the payment instructions and completes on its own the moment
the funds arrive. Switch Bank Transfers on in Stripe first — the settings row
tells you if it is not.
 * NEW: Settlement callback. ZionPe now tells your store directly when a payment
succeeds, fails or is still settling, signed with your Site Secret. Orders no
longer depend on the customer reaching the thank-you page — close the tab, lose
signal, pay by bank days later: the order still completes.
 * IMPROVED: A payment that is still settling is no longer treated as a decline.
Those orders go On hold with a clear note instead of Failed.
 * NOTE: The Site Secret is now required for the callback. Add it in ZionPe settings
or on the WooCommerce gateway — either one fills in the other.

#### 1.19.8

 * IMPROVED: The Pay by Bank row now names the rail your account actually uses —“
Pay by Bank (UK open banking)”, “ACH Direct Debit” or “Pre-authorized debit (
ACSS)” — so it is clear what you are switching on.
 * NEW: Bank Transfer is listed as “Coming soon”. It is a push payment that settles
in days rather than seconds, so it needs order-status handling we have not shipped
   yet.

#### 1.19.7

 * FIXED: Apple Pay / Google Pay express payments failed at the final step with “
Payment details were collected through Stripe Elements using automatic payment
methods and cannot be confirmed…”. The express button and the payment were configured
two different ways; they now match.
 * FIXED: Buying straight from a product page answered “Your cart is empty” — a
product-page purchase legitimately starts with an empty cart, and the check was
firing before the product was considered.
 * FIXED: A cancelled or declined wallet payment left its order sitting in Pending.
Those orders are now released as Failed, so your pending total reflects real
   money in flight.
 * FIXED: After updating, WordPress left you on the update screen. You are taken
to the ZionPe page with the confirmation.

#### 1.19.6

 * NEW: Separate switches for where the express button appears — product page, cart
page, checkout page — so you choose each one.
 * NEW: Button height (small/medium/large) and width (full / fit content / centred)
so the button matches your theme.
 * FIXED: On product pages the button sat inside the Add to cart row and looked
squashed. It is now its own row underneath.
 * FIXED: An express order is now marked paid the moment the wallet confirms, instead
of waiting for the shopper to land on the thank-you page. Closing the tab no
longer leaves a paid charge on a pending order.
 * FIXED: Buying one item from a product page no longer disturbs coupons already
applied to the shopper’s cart — the cart and its coupons are restored exactly
   as they were.

#### 1.19.5

 * NEW: Express Apple Pay / Google Pay button on product pages — buy one item without
going through the cart. The order is created in WooCommerce and appears in your
ZionPe dashboard exactly like any other order, and the shopper’s existing cart
   is left untouched.
 * NEW: Site Secret can now be entered on the ZionPe settings page too. Credentials
saved on either screen appear on both — enter them once, wherever you are.
 * FIXED: After updating the plugin the old “new version available” banner stayed
up. You now land back on the ZionPe page with a clear “updated” confirmation.
 * FIXED: Blocks checkout still showed “Credit/Debit Card” as the heading above
Google Pay — it now reads ZionPe Payments, like the classic checkout.

#### 1.19.4

 * FIXED: The Apple Pay / Google Pay express button was landing inside the checkout’s
address column and breaking the layout. It now sits in its own full-width band
above the form, with an “OR” divider, and disappears entirely when the shopper’s
   device has no wallet.
 * IMPROVED: The ZionPe option at checkout shows the ZionPe mark with rounded corners,
and the extra frame around it is gone — each payment method reads as its own
   block.
 * NEW: The ZionPe settings page now has tabs — Settings, Payment methods and Shortcode
builder — instead of one very long page. Payment methods are editable right there,
no more hunting through WooCommerce settings.
 * IMPROVED: The Apple Pay status panel sits under its heading instead of floating
to the right, and method availability now reads “Active on your ZionPe account”.
 * FIXED: “Check for Updates” button icon alignment.

#### 1.19.3

 * NEW: Each payment method now shows whether your Stripe account can actually do
it — “Active on your Stripe account” or “Not available” with the reason. No more
guessing why a method you switched on never appears.
 * FIXED: Pay by Bank could be switched on and still never show at checkout. Bank
payments are region-specific (UK open banking, US ACH, Canadian ACSS) and we
were falling back to the UK rail when your account country was unknown, which
is refused for any non-GBP charge. Your account country is now read from Stripe.
 * FIXED: Switching a method on did not always reach shoppers who already had the
checkout open — the saved payment session ignored the change.
 * IMPROVED: Checkout methods render as separate blocks instead of one stacked list.
 * CHANGED: Klarna, Clearpay/Afterpay, Affirm and Cash App Pay are listed as “Coming
soon” and cannot be switched on yet. ZionPe currently supports card, Apple Pay,
Google Pay, Link and Pay by Bank.

#### 1.19.2

 * FIXED: The Payment methods list and the Apple Pay status panel showed as empty
boxes in ZionPe settings, and the plugin could deactivate itself. A bad edit
in 1.19.1 removed the code behind them — restored.
 * FIXED: Google Pay appeared nested under a heading that said “Credit/Debit Card”.
The heading now describes the group (“ZionPe Payments”) whenever more than one
method is on, and names the method when only one is on.
 * FIXED: Express Apple Pay / Google Pay buttons never appeared on stores using
the new Cart and Checkout blocks. They now render there too.
 * FIXED: Express payments failed at the final step on some stores (a required Stripe
   step was missing).

#### 1.19.1

 * FIXED: ZionPe is one row again in WooCommerce Settings Payments. Splitting
each method into its own row filled that screen with ZionPe entries — every method
is now managed in one place, inside ZionPe Payments Manage.
 * FIXED: Choosing “Pay by Bank” at checkout could show a card form. If a method
your account or currency cannot do made the payment fail to start, we replaced
your whole selection with cards; now only the unusable method is dropped and
   the rest stay.
 * FIXED: A method could appear twice at checkout (e.g. Google Pay as its own option
and again inside the card option).
 * IMPROVED: Payment methods at checkout are now clear radio options — pick one
and only that one’s form opens, so what you select is what you pay with.

#### 1.19.0

 * NEW: Apple Pay / Google Pay express buttons on the cart and checkout pages —
   one tap, the wallet fills in the email and delivery address. Off by default;
switch it on in ZionPe settings after testing. Your store always prices the order,
   never the wallet.
 * NEW: Any method can now be its own payment option at checkout. Enable “ZionPe—
Klarna” (or Pay by Bank, Clearpay, …) in WooCommerce Settings Payments and
it gets its own row, its own toggle and its own place in the list, alongside
   every other gateway.
 * NEW: Apple Pay status panel in ZionPe settings — see whether your domain is verified
and registered, and activate it with one button.
 * NEW: Payment methods are now a switch-and-drag list in ZionPe settings. Turn
each method on or off, and drag them into the order your customers see at checkout—
   the top one appears first.
 * NEW: Apple Pay and Google Pay are now proper switches. Turn one off and it never
appears; turn it on and it shows wherever the shopper’s device supports it.
 * FIXED: Apple Pay often never appeared at all. Your store’s domain is now registered
with Stripe automatically the first time a checkout loads, which is what Apple
   Pay (and Link) require.
 * NEW: More methods available — Clearpay/Afterpay, Affirm and Cash App Pay, alongside
cards, Link, Pay by Bank and Klarna.
 * NEW: The payment methods you offer now show as icons next to ZionPe Payments
in WooCommerce Settings Payments and at checkout.

#### 1.18.0

 * FIXED: Classic (shortcode) WooCommerce checkout now sends the customer’s billing
name, email, phone and address with the payment. Orders paid this way used to
show “No billing details were captured” in your ZionPe dashboard, and card postcode/
address checks had nothing to match against.
 * IMPROVED: The customer’s email, name and billing city/postcode/country are stamped
on the payment itself at creation, so a payment is always attributable to a buyer—
even on Pay by Bank and other redirect methods where the bank tells us nothing
   about the payer.
 * IMPROVED: Pay by Bank orders now carry the buyer’s details from the order, server-
   side.

#### 1.17.0

 * NEW: Shortcode Builder in WordPress ZionPe — build your payment/donation form
visually and copy the ready-made shortcode.
 * IMPROVED: Shortcode forms are wider (560px) with a cleaner white card, and the
payment methods now show as compact tabs instead of one long vertical list.
 * IMPROVED: Dashboard revenue widget now includes payment-form (shortcode/donation)
revenue, not just WooCommerce orders — with a clear “Store currency: GBP (£)”
   line so figures are unambiguous.
 * IMPROVED: Dashboard revenue widget appears at the top of the dashboard by default
   on new installs.
 * FIXED: Revenue widget now works on sites without WooCommerce (shows payment-form
   revenue).

#### 1.16.0

 * NEW: Donation-style shortcode forms — preset amount buttons (amounts=”10,25,50″),
custom amount input (custom_amount=”yes”), minimum amount, optional title and
   custom button text (e.g. “Donate”).
 * NEW: Optional customer email field on shortcode forms (collect_email, default
on) — powers Stripe receipts and shows the customer on your merchant notification.
 * FIXED: The “Success Message” setting is now actually shown after shortcode payments(
   it was ignored before).
 * FIXED: The “Redirect URL after payment” setting now works for shortcode payments.
 * FIXED: Bank-redirect payments (3D Secure, Pay by Bank, Klarna) returning to the
page now show a clear payment result instead of an empty form, and the merchant
   notification email is sent.
 * FIXED: If Stripe.js cannot load, the form now shows an error instead of silently
   waiting forever.
 * IMPROVED: Pay button shows the live amount (e.g. “Pay £25.00” / “Donate • £25.00”).

#### 1.15.1

 * NEW: Site Secret is now shown on your ZionPe dashboard (WordPress Plugin page)
with a copy button — no more hunting for it.
 * NEW: When you save the gateway settings with a Site Secret, the plugin instantly
verifies it with ZionPe and shows “Site Secret verified — active and working”(
or a clear error if it does not match).
 * NEW: Your ZionPe dashboard shows an “Active” badge once the secret is verified
   from your store.

#### 1.15.0

 * CRITICAL FIX: Orders no longer stay in “Pending Payment” after a successful card
payment when no Site Secret is configured. Payment verification completes, the
order moves to Processing, customers reach the Thank You page, and order emails
   are sent.
 * FIXED: Failed payment verification now writes a note on the order with the exact
reason, so merchants can see what happened.
 * FIXED: If ZionPe cannot be reached during verification after the card was charged,
the order is placed On Hold (instead of being auto-cancelled and re-selling stock)
and the customer still reaches the Thank You page.
 * FIXED: Pay by Bank / redirect payments now return to the real checkout page even
when it is not at /checkout/.
 * ADDED: Admin notice when the Site Secret is missing — refunds require it and
verification runs in reduced-security mode without it.

#### 1.14.0

 * ACTION REQUIRED: Paste your Site Secret in WooCommerce > Payments > ZionPe. Refunds
now require it and will fail without it.
 * SECURITY: Refund and verify-payment requests are HMAC-signed with your Site Secret.
The public Site Key alone can no longer refund your orders.
 * ADDED: “ZionPe Site Secret” setting in the gateway settings

#### 1.13.0

 * FIXED: Google Pay and Apple Pay not showing on WooCommerce classic checkout
 * FIXED: Link and Pay by Bank tabs missing from checkout payment form
 * FIXED: Blocks checkout not sending enabled payment method types to server
 * IMPROVED: Explicit wallets config (applePay: auto, googlePay: auto) on Payment
Element for reliable display on Connect accounts
 * IMPROVED: paymentMethodOrder now includes card, Google Pay, Apple Pay, and Link
   in correct order
 * IMPROVED: Blocks checkout now passes merchant-enabled payment methods to create-
   intent API

#### 1.12.1

 * FIXED: Payment form “Network error” on checkout after plugin activation
 * FIXED: Payment form loading indefinitely on WooCommerce Blocks checkout
 * NEW: Automatic retry with exponential backoff when payment server is slow or
   temporarily unavailable
 * IMPROVED: Better error messages — shows specific cause (timeout, connection,
server error) instead of generic “Network error”
 * IMPROVED: Added “Retry” button on payment form errors (no full page refresh needed)
 * IMPROVED: CORS preflight caching (24h) reduces checkout latency
 * IMPROVED: Blocks checkout now has proper request timeout (30s) instead of hanging
   indefinitely

#### 1.12.0

 * FIXED: ZionPe Dashboard links now point to https://zionpe.com/user-app/zionpe(
Help & Support and dashboard widget)

#### 1.11.0

no Stripe mention; secure & trusted

 * NEW: Rate the plugin ★★★★★ link (opens in new tab) to WordPress.org reviews

   ZionPe Manage

   buyer experience

#### 1.9.0

 * CRITICAL FIX: Pay by Bank – WooCommerce order now created and merchant notified
 * NEW: Two-step Pay by Bank flow – order is created first, then customer is redirected
   to bank
 * FIXED: Pay by Bank success now creates order in WordPress and shows on thank
   you page

ID, payment ID, customer) when Pay by Bank succeeds

   payment details

   same reliable flow

   version
